A restaurant down the street had a week, so we wondered into City Coffeehouse. They do not have a full menu, but do have some good bakery items. The blueberry muffin did not disappoint. The chai tea latte was awesome.

Cute coffee shop with a great vibe. Lots of old photos from Detroit on wall. Had a latte and a great conversation. There is a cool vending machine with art etc. I loved my art! Lots of studying going on here and other folks as well. Everything is set up for social distancing and felt very safe here.

My father took me to City Coffee’s grand opening back in 1996, and I’ve been back many times since through the years. I’ve found few other coffee shops that have struck the balance between a relaxed atmosphere and quality, reasonably priced coffee as well as City Coffee has. It’s a place where you can can stay for 5 minutes or 5 hours, and you’ll always have a good time.

An independent coffee shop downriver earns an extra star no matter what. My idea of a great coffee shop is one that is spacious, friendly, quiet and has excellent coffee, tea and pastries. It’s also always a plus when a coffee shop embraces the local community ie art, bulletins, events, etc. While there is arguably better coffee out there. City coffee shop is an excellent example of what makes independent coffee shops great.
